After you create your account, Onsite walks you through a few setup screens and offers shortcuts for your first tasks. Here's what each screen does, how to come back to setup later, and what to set up next.
Review device permissions
The Enable permissions screen asks for microphone and location access. Microphone access is needed for the phone system. Location access helps with scheduling, ETAs, and dispatch.
On Enable permissions, select Allow access to start granting permissions, or select I'll do this later.
Add your avatar
Your photo is used in the app and in some customer communications.
On Add a selfie to use as your avatar, select Upload a photo, or select I'll do this later.
To change your photo later, go to Settings > Profile > Replace photo.
Get set up to text
The next screen explains A2P verification for your new business line. You need it to send text messages.
Important: Use your real, registered business information when you submit verification.
Enter Your business's EIN # and Your legal business name.
Select Continue, or select I'll do this later.
The screen shows an estimated processing time for the application.
Choose your first tasks
The How do you want to get started? screen offers 5 tasks. Select the one you want to start with. You don't have to do them in order.
Task | What it does |
Invite team members | Enter each person's Full name and Email address, and decide whether to select Make admin. Use Add another team member to add more people, edit the Message, then select Send invite. |
Test our call features | Shows Onsite does more with calls, which introduces business and personal call separation, call recording, contacts created from call audio, and suggested follow-up tasks. Select Run a mock call with our AI to try a demo call. |
Book my first job | Opens Schedule and Choose a customer. If you don't have customers yet, select Add a new customer. Then see Create a job and schedule its first appointment. |
Review client communications | Opens Client communications, where you can review appointment confirmations, appointment reminders, dispatch notifications, arrival notifications, Google review requests, cancelled appointments, and rescheduled appointments. Select Done to go back. |
Get set up to text (A2P) | Marked Important. Opens text-message verification if you skipped it earlier. |
To explore on your own first, select I'm not sure, just get me in.
Choose your appearance
On Choose your appearance mode, select System, Light mode, or Dark mode.
Select Continue.
To change it later, go to Settings > Appearance.
Use the To-do list on your dashboard
Once you're in the app, the To-do list on your dashboard keeps track of setup. It shows a completion count and 6 tasks.
Open Dashboard.
Find To-do.
Select the task you want to work on.
To-do includes these tasks:
Invite team members
Get set up to text (A2P)
Book my first job
Test our call features
Review client communications
Set up payment processing
Set up payment processing is the only task that isn't in the first-run screens. To complete it, see Set up payment processing.
Set up the rest of your business
Return to Dashboard > To-do at any time to pick up where you left off. To get set up to text, go to Phones > Messages. To book a job, go to Schedule > Add > Add an appointment.
Then follow this suggested order to get Onsite ready for your team and customers. Each step points to an article with the details.
In Settings > Team management, invite the people who'll use Onsite. See Invite a team member.
In Settings > Appointment types, set up the kinds of work you schedule, including duration and priority. See Set up appointment types.
In Settings, set your Business hours and Service area. See Set your business hours and Set your service area.
In Settings > Pricebook, add your services, materials, and equipment. See Add and find pricebook items.
In Settings, review your Estimates & invoices defaults and your Payment processing status. See Set default due dates and terms for invoices and Set up payment processing.
